September Is Subluxation Awareness Month!

The first chiropractic adjustment for a subluxation was demonstrated on September 18th 1985. It was then that Chiropractic care started to develop into a legitimate and successful form of treatment for individuals with health ailments.

Subluxations are one of the most common reasons why people turn to chiropractic care.

When the motion or position of the spinal bones are compromised this can create absolute chaos within the body, not only affecting the spine but also causing stress, pain and discomfort to other areas of the body. Subluxations inhibit the body from operating properly in almost every way.

Incorrect positioning of the spine can and most likely, will irritate, compress or stretch nerve tissue, which is already extremely delicate. As the immune system weakens, strength and coordination are negatively affected and organs may cease to function normally.

However, getting adjusted by a licensed chiropractor can increase your body’s white blood cell count by thirty percent! A raise in white blood cells means that your body can defend itself against the common cold, the flu and other contagious illnesses. Getting adjusted is not just for adults, children can also benefit from chiropractic care especially during that time of year when the common cold is most prominent. Having your child adjusted can help raise their immune systems to help fight against those nasty viruses.

Subluxations cause an increase in pain levels, pain consistency, as well as stiffness and fatigue. As if the physical symptoms weren’t enough, there could also be major affects to stress and our state of mind. It’s important to realize that subluxations are not just a tight wound, sore muscles in your back. They are silent killers which over time decreases the body’s immunity to disease. Think about subluxation this way, if you tie a piece of string around the tip of your finger very tightly and held it there, would you simply put hot water on it to decrease the tightness in your finger? No. Would you try and rub the tip of your finger to ease the tension of the string? Maybe, but the string is still tightly wound against the finger tip. The only way to ease the tension is to release the string from the finger. In essence, the only way to relive and treat subluxation is to release that damaging tension from the spine. This is accomplished through chiropractic adjustments.

Biodynamic!

Biodynamic farming is a subset of permaculture, both which offer solutions to the problems of modern agriculture. A short list of these issues includes; monoculture, deforestation, biodiversity desecration, toxic chemical use, soil depletion, job loss, habitat pollution and loss of culture. All of these problems are fundamental issues that have a chain of ramifications, like deteriorating health and lowered function in society.

Permaculture is based on the idea of creating a “permanent culture.”  This implies farming, building and lifestyle practices that can be sustained throughout generations of human life.  This is contrary to the way that society is currently functioning, but it is completely essential for our future.

Biodynamic practices live within permaculture.  The word bio comes from latin and means life, dynamic can be defined as a force that stimulates change or progress within a system.  In this way, Biodynamic farming practices are sustainable resource management, and resource growth that benefits all systems.  There are a lot of vineyards that operate within biodynamic principles, because using this system feeds better grapes, making better wines. It is sensible for a farmer to look to the long term effects of their practices to sustain their land as long as possible.  To do this a farmer must nourish the soil, the land surrounding their farm, and the people that support the farm.  The first developer of biodynamic farming believed that supporting ourselves in this ethical way allowed our spiritual connection to grow.

 

So what does that equate to?

 

Biodynamic permaculture is the process of building a sustainable and evolving culture that is supportive to all life.

 

Why do I care?

 

We are all interconnected in this life.  Everything we do affects another being.  If I eat well, take care of my body and choose to be happy those around me will be positively affected.  When you smile at another person, or talk with a stranger instead of being on your smartphone, you are positively affecting your world.  Choosing food from farmers in your neighborhood is more ethically sustainable because you are supporting a person in the community, making a connection, and providing better quality food for yourself.   Biodynamic living is a way to improve your connection to food, improve your connection to community, and ultimately take better care of yourself and our future.

Clarity

Clarity!

    We recently spoke about the word ‘Light’.  When we focus on lighting up our lives through health, wellness, truth and love, the life changing results are CLARITY!

When you have clarity, you possess a clearness of mind, free from obscurity and easy to understand. It means clearness, like water fresh from the mountain spring.  Adding light to your inner mixture, allowed you to identify where you were cloudy, and where darkness was lurking.  Through the light, we can foster clarity by being centered and grounded in the present moment, knowing what our goals are, and having open and honest communication with ourselves, primarily, in addition to our families and community.

    Use journaling to discover what drives you, and where you are going.  Here are a few questions to ask yourself to discover and create clarity:

 

    What are my biggest accomplishments?

    What are my biggest stumbling blocks?

 

        These questions will give you a sense of what your values are.  When you have a clear idea of what values most to you, you can align your habits to those values, and from there, develop goals.

    List 3 goals that you consider to be vital

        You have now done some wonderful inner searching, and just from this can get connected with yourself, which always helps you feel good.  Take it to the next level:

 

MAKE A GAME PLAN!

 

        Underneath each goal, make a list of how you can get there with as much detail as you can muster.  Some people find this easier by working backwards and imagining what it would take to get to where you are going.  Do you need to start a savings account, get a gym membership, get nutrition counseling?  In your game plan list 3 people for each goal that you can call on. One to ask for help, another keep you accountable, and another to be your cheerleader.

Light!

This is the time of year when our systems become enlightened with the longer days, more motivation, warmer weather.  The sun is actually moving closer to the earth, charging our bodies with more and more light energy.  As humans we receive light through our skin from the sun, and that is beneficial because it processes vitamins in our body such as C and D, it can alleviate symptoms of depression, seasonal depressive disorder, and anxiety and nervousness. There is even evidence that suggest humans recover from surgery, and illness faster when exposed to natural light. Natural light also regulates sleep patterns, and possibly improves risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension.

 

Its obvious our systems benefit from this all powerful energy from the sun, the whole earth is built to circle around it! Our systems are adapted to receive this energy daily, but did you know our system is also built to EMIT LIGHT?!?!?  Human energy emits light, that when shining bright enough can be seen, even, from space! When the human body is healthy, with strong mental clarity we can even improve how bright our light shines. This light that we emit is lower on the UV scale than most human eyes can pick up, but we can feel it.  Have you heard human energy is described as a fire within? Think of how many songs or stories you know about shining humans, the light of love, how illumination is related to love, health and truth?

This light that we humans have evolved to shine, is something use to communicate with each other, without our conscious awareness. Some people can feel the wellness, or truth of a person, without it being communicated verbally.  You know you get that feeling that you can trust a person you’ve hardly known?  This is an example of light communication. Truth is light in the body.  Illness is darkness in the body.  Where there is no communication, there is illness.

Word of the Week:

Celebrate!  Hooray for you! Hooray for your Health!

 

Spring is here.  We have detoxed the greys of winter from our bones and guts, and its time to dance in the sun.  We all celebrate and participate to some extent in some of the larger popular celebrations in our culture.  This week take time for a personal celebration!  Keep it clean and healthy so you can feel good about your success.

 

Did you complete your detox?  Did you change a limiting thought you once had?  Were you a super parent or grandparent this week?  Does someone love you?  Do you love someone?  Did you drive without rage?  Did you finish a book, or an awesome workout?

 

Even the tiniest celebration reaps positive results. This act of enjoyment can solidify the positive memories in your mind, and lower stress.  Studies have shown that when people have a celebratory attitude they tend to have longer life, better coping skills, and improves physical health. A good attitude is the best support for overall better well being.

 

Dance when you see your first tulip of the season.  Sing to the buds on your favorite deciduous tree.  When you remember to water your plants or be kind in line, pat yourself on the back.  What’s even better than relishing these delightful moments on your own?  Celebrating together!!  Find a friend to make a pie with, or go sing some karaoke.  Go for a walk and make a bouquet, or make yourself a thank you card.  You are so worth it!
