Snot Cute?

Snot!

Back to school season is GROSS!  All the kids are mingling together and sharing loads of new germs around school.  It’s likely you have a running nose, or a sneezy, snotty kid on your hands!

If you take a look at what’s in the tissue you will have a load of information on how to help your child ease the back to school symptoms.

If mucus is green its a sign that there could be bacterial infection.

Brown or yellow indicates a viral infection

Clear indicates a sign of allergy or viral infection

For a dry nose, or a constant picker it could mean there is a parasitic problem.

Now, eliminating the problem of a funny acting nose can be treated properly.  Dr John can help you navigate a snot problem, or a back to school stress problem.

There is a lot to do around supporting kids through this time. You can offer a drink of herbal tea that boosts immunity, and calms the system, like chamomile or lemon balm.  Make sure they get enough sleep, and cut back on refined sugars and juices. Getting loads of exercise when they aren’t in school will boost immunity, improve sleep, and help their brains perform better on tests.

We want to ensure that you are doing everything you can for your kids health, and we have lots of ways to help you here!

Community of Life

Community

Without COMMUNITY we would not survive!  Our society is built on culture, and connection to others.  A well known story from a WWII hospital orphanage sadly discovered that babies who are not held will die, even if well fed.  An article just came out about a mother, whose baby was pronounced dead at birth.  She held him to say goodbye, and after two hours the baby came back to life!  This wonderfully illustrates how vital sharing the life force with each other is.  Without contact we do not grow to speak, think or act to our potential.  Communities provide our friends, our families, our support and our health. They provide outlets for our creativity, and exposure to new ideas, people and places. Many studies have demonstrated that people who are involved in their communities tend to live longer and happier lives.  Connection is the key the success of our species, and ironically, modern culture has ingrained the importance of self reliance, sole solidity, and independence above all morals.

The definitions given in the dictionary all fall short of what a real community offers.  Its a home, a friend, a deep and lasting connection with people that may share a locale or interest, but most importantly share love.  Love for a place, love for each other, love for humanity or earth or another interest.  Community is the people you see everyday, the people you intentionally gather with, the people you share your wins and losses with, the places that inspire you and the people that go there with you. Community is so much more than just people! People don’t exist without the community of plants, animals, water and air. Have you ever gone a day without air? Without air there are no plants, without water there are no plants, or animals. We are a deeply interconnected community on Earth, of all living things. We live in the precious balance and harmony by respecting other beings rights to be here, and ultimately, provide for us humans!

Here are some things you can do to strengthen your experience of community. Think of it like gardening your friends.  Plant seeds, water, weed and celebrate the harvest!

One healthy, happy person can brighten all of the interactions they have during the course of a day. We hope that we can create a centered community with the goal of healing, and joyously celebrating living together!  Lets support each other! Change for the better, overall, must come from us all.

Addiction

ADDICTIONS

In recent months Dr John participated in a study to see if NET work could help clear the emotions that lead to the addiction of smoking cigarettes.  He has found this method to be extremely useful, and has helped people ease the addiction to smoking. Any focus of addiction, whether it be smoking, coffee, bad relationships, drinking, or prescriptions all stem from the same need within us.  We had some need that was not met, and we adapted by using something to distract us from the pain of lack.  In conducting the stop smoking study we have seen the connectivity between all addictions and original events in life that lead to negative feelings.  With NET, we can clear those emotions and help ease the demand of addiction on our beings and psyche.

Sciatica

Sciatica

The sciatic nerves are the largest and longest nerves of the body, and they run down the back of each leg. It is when the nerves are irritated or are affected by inflammation of soft tissue that doctors refer to this as sciatica. This most commonly occurs when a herniated disk or a bone spur on the spine compresses part of the nerve.

With Sciatica, pain is caused when the sciatic nerve roots are irritated, scraped, twisted, stretched or pinched as they exit the spine. As with all pain, causes can be chemical, physical or emotional. Symptoms of a flare up can result in lower back pain, burning, cramping or numbness that could radiate into the thigh, legs, ankles and even the feet and toes.  Pain could also be limited to various points along the nerve, such as the buttocks, knee and calf.

Research shows that when treated with chiropractic, sciatic has an 8-9% greater rate of recovery than if patients use therapy or standard medical care.  We can also help with exercises to do at home to decrease the  pain, and align yourself for best functionality.

As a health problem that relates to the spine, chiropractic care can cause this issue to improve dramatically. Restoration in the spine can improve nerve function throughout the body, including decreased pain.

Frequent Headaches?

Headaches are so common that people sometimes think that its just a normal part of life!  No way! Pain is not normal, it is a signal from your body that something needs attention.  Stress, toxic fumes, food allergies, preservatives, and dehydration are common culprits of frequent headaches.

Some would estimate that 25% of the population has a headache RIGHT NOW!?!  It has been reported that 10 million Americans suffer from moderate to severe headaches regularly. That is a lot of pain!  We weren’t born with headaches, and we can live without them.  Loss of normal spine curve is a common cause of many types of headaches.

When the spinal bones in the neck and upper back lose their normal position and motion, sensitive nerves and blood vessels to the head can be affected.  With spinal nerves and tissue stretched and irritated, they can produce throbbing headaches.  Medication will only cover the warning signs, and will never correct the underlying cause. Frequently, people experience correction and relief through chiropractic care.
Spinal joint dysfunction can be created by the myriad of chemical, emotional and physical stresses in our lives. Chiropractic care can help align all of these systems. One of the biggest benefits of chiropractic care is the opportunity to create well being and be drug free! We want to help you TODAY!

Carpal Tunnel

Carpal Tunnel

Repetitive hand and wrist motion recieve micro traumas to their hands and wrists daily.  Think clerks, receivers, shipment, keyboard operators, cell phone use, musicians, assembly line workers, waitstaff, baristas and many others. Vibration and repetitive motion can result in carpal tunnel syndrome.  When combined with other spinal problems and joint dysfunction it worsens symptoms of this disorder.  Symptoms include pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, and loss of strength in the hands.

The carpal tunnel is a path way through your wrist that gets compressed during certain strenuous or repetitive activity, and it blocks blood flow and nerve signal to the hand.  Specific chiropractic adjustments can help return malfunctioning joints to a more normal motion and position.

The major nerve controlling the thumb, index and parts of the middle and ring finger is called the median nerve.  It travels from the tip of your fingers through the wrist, up the arm and to your spinal cord.  Problems can develop in any of these areas. The carpal tunnel is formed by bones in the wrists, and the median nerve, tendons and blood pass through this opening. If one or more of the bones forming in this tunnel should collapse, inflammation, nerve pressure, and pain can result.

Problems can also develop as a result of the spinal column being misaligned at the point in which the nerves connect to the spine. When these spinal bones lose their normal motion or position, you can experience problems in the fingers and wrist.

With adjustments specific to this syndrome, chiropractic can help normalize the structure and reduce nerve irritation.  When given time, chiropractic has had excellent results helping people with carpal tunnel syndrome without drugs or surgery!

Fibromyalgia symptoms ease with Chiropractic

Chiropractic Helps Fibromyalgia

Up to 5 million Americans have a syndrome known as Fibromyalgia and possibly over  80% of those people suffering this syndrome are women.  It is a difficult syndrome to diagnose, because so many of the symptoms overlap with other issues.  Typically people with fibromyalgia experience widespread, and frequent pain lasting for at least 3 months, are fatigued, have diffuse tenderness in up to 18 different parts of the body, stiffness, IBS, sensitivity, have trouble sleeping and concentrating.  There are many theories as to the cause of this syndrome, including emotional stress, injury, illness, candida overgrowth, adrenal problems and it can even occur spontaneously. There is current research that shows that people with fibromyalgia are more likely to have certain gene combinations, however they are still researching if this is more likely to occur in families due to environmental or genetic reasons. Current science research says that people with fibromyalgia may have a gene that causes them to react more strongly to stimuli, that in others, would not perceived as painful.

Treating fibromyalgia is all encompassing.  There are as many ways to treat it as there are symptoms.  If an emotional stressor brought it on, therapy or emotional release methods such as Neuro Emotional Technique might help.  People report that massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, epsom salt baths, improved diet, exercise and meditation can all help ease the symptoms of the syndrome.  It might seem counter intuitive, but all the things that a body with fibromyalgia is having trouble doing, are all the things that need to be prioritized.  Make time for self care with early bedtimes, gentle exercise routines, and healing foods. Chiropractic can improve these symptoms by improving overall functioning of the nervous system and has been shown to decrease pain in many chronic conditions. A study published recently stated more than 60% of the participants who underwent thirty chiropractic treatments showed significant reductions in pain intensity and improvement in their overall fatigue and quality of sleep. Fibromyalgia sufferers reported less joint pain after being placed on raw food vegan diets. Your favorite chiropractor can help you design a care plan specific to your needs that is based on Nutrition, exercise and regular chiropractic adjustments.

Sports Injuries Can Happen to Anyone

Sports Injuries

Fall is around the corner, and with the days cooling off it is likely that you are trying to spend as much time as possible outside before the cold sets in.  Sports injuries can occur through gym workouts, marathon training, lifting babies, raking leaves, carrying a backpack, getting tackled, or gardening.  Chiropractic can help with injuries to any of the bones or joints, not just in backs and necks. Pain, swelling, loss of motion and function can all be results of overdoing it, no matter what the sport. Repetitive motion, slips, falls, over exertion, and accidents can all result in tennis elbow, runner’s knee, frozen shoulder, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Conventional treatment of these issues includes splinting, medications, steroid injections and possibly surgery. These are all costly,  invasive, and violent to your body.  Checking out all injuries with a chiropractor can save you lots of time, money, toxins and is a much gentler form of injury therapy.  Long term problems related to injuries can result in calcium buildup and scar tissue, which can be more difficult to remove.

Its best to deal with injuries as soon as they happen, but much can be done with chiropractic for old injuries as well.  Old injuries may be rearing their heads as the weather cools and dampens, and can still be corrected.

Chiropractic can also be helpful to prevent injuries! By having proper alignment when you go out there to thrash around the world, you can prevent many future injuries from developing.  Pinched nerves and thrown out backs can happen at any moment, and the better aligned you are the less likely you are to experience this painful hassle.

Light!

This is the time of year when our systems become enlightened with the longer days, more motivation, warmer weather.  The sun is actually moving closer to the earth, charging our bodies with more and more light energy.  As humans we receive light through our skin from the sun, and that is beneficial because it processes vitamins in our body such as C and D, it can alleviate symptoms of depression, seasonal depressive disorder, and anxiety and nervousness. There is even evidence that suggest humans recover from surgery, and illness faster when exposed to natural light. Natural light also regulates sleep patterns, and possibly improves risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension.

Its obvious our systems benefit from this all powerful energy from the sun, the whole earth is built to circle around it! Our systems are adapted to receive this energy daily, but did you know our system is also built to EMIT LIGHT?!?!?  Human energy emits light, that when shining bright enough can be seen, even, from space! When the human body is healthy, with strong mental clarity we can even improve how bright our light shines. This light that we emit is lower on the UV scale than most human eyes can pick up, but we can feel it.  Have you heard human energy is described as a fire within? Think of how many songs or stories you know about shining humans, the light of love, how illumination is related to love, health and truth?

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!

Turn on your love light, let it shine on me!

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray!

This light that we humans have evolved to shine, is something use to communicate with each other, without our conscious awareness. Some people can feel the wellness, or truth of a person, without it being communicated verbally.  You know you get that feeling that you can trust a person you’ve hardly known?  This is an example of light communication. Truth is light in the body.  Illness is darkness in the body.  Where there is no communication, there is illness.

If you have been into the Docs office here lately you have probably had Dr John waving a cold laser on your body.  This technology is based on a new technology, quantum neurology.  Quantum Neurology is nervous system rehabilitation by improving communication in various parts of your body.

We are so excited to share this revolutionary and totally new healing method with you!  We are here to help your little light shine, and grow into a big light!
