The sciatic nerves are the largest and longest nerves of the body, and they run down the back of each leg. It is when the nerves are irritated or are affected by inflammation of soft tissue that doctors refer to this as sciatica. This most commonly occurs when a herniated disk or a bone spur on the spine compresses part of the nerve.

With Sciatica, pain is caused when the sciatic nerve roots are irritated, scraped, twisted, stretched or pinched as they exit the spine. As with all pain, causes can be chemical, physical or emotional. Symptoms of a flare up can result in lower back pain, burning, cramping or numbness that could radiate into the thigh, legs, ankles and even the feet and toes.  Pain could also be limited to various points along the nerve, such as the buttocks, knee and calf.

Research shows that when treated with chiropractic, sciatic has an 8-9% greater rate of recovery than if patients use therapy or standard medical care.  We can also help with exercises to do at home to decrease the  pain, and align yourself for best functionality.

As a health problem that relates to the spine, chiropractic care can cause this issue to improve dramatically. Restoration in the spine can improve nerve function throughout the body, including decreased pain.

Recipe of the Week! Paleo Pancakes

Holy Cow! Grain free pancakes!!  This awesome recipe is a great way to make a family favorite with no grains, and super high in protein. Average pancakes have a number of undesirable ingredients.  They can be chock full of sugar and flour; have little or no protein for that lasting fullness needed in a breakfast food.  This recipe uses extra eggs, coconut flour, and eliminates the sugar for an extra healthy version of the breakfast staple.  They are super good served with either real maple syrup, honey, or salsa! The kids will eat a dozen of these tasty cakes!



  • 4 eggs

  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup coconut milk (or more if needed)

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • coconut oil for frying

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce

  • ½ tsp sea salt

  • ½ tea baking soda

  • ½ cups coconut flour


  1. Mix, eggs, vanilla, applesauce, sea salt, baking soda, honey, and cinnamon together and blend until smooth.

  2. Slowly stir into the coconut flour until moistened.

  3. Lightly oil your pan with coconut oil place over medium heat.

  4. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately ¼ cup for each pancake.

  5. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
