Community of Life

Community

Without COMMUNITY we would not survive!  Our society is built on culture, and connection to others.  A well known story from a WWII hospital orphanage sadly discovered that babies who are not held will die, even if well fed.  An article just came out about a mother, whose baby was pronounced dead at birth.  She held him to say goodbye, and after two hours the baby came back to life!  This wonderfully illustrates how vital sharing the life force with each other is.  Without contact we do not grow to speak, think or act to our potential.  Communities provide our friends, our families, our support and our health. They provide outlets for our creativity, and exposure to new ideas, people and places. Many studies have demonstrated that people who are involved in their communities tend to live longer and happier lives.  Connection is the key the success of our species, and ironically, modern culture has ingrained the importance of self reliance, sole solidity, and independence above all morals.

The definitions given in the dictionary all fall short of what a real community offers.  Its a home, a friend, a deep and lasting connection with people that may share a locale or interest, but most importantly share love.  Love for a place, love for each other, love for humanity or earth or another interest.  Community is the people you see everyday, the people you intentionally gather with, the people you share your wins and losses with, the places that inspire you and the people that go there with you. Community is so much more than just people! People don’t exist without the community of plants, animals, water and air. Have you ever gone a day without air? Without air there are no plants, without water there are no plants, or animals. We are a deeply interconnected community on Earth, of all living things. We live in the precious balance and harmony by respecting other beings rights to be here, and ultimately, provide for us humans!

Here are some things you can do to strengthen your experience of community. Think of it like gardening your friends.  Plant seeds, water, weed and celebrate the harvest!

There are so many more ways to connect with each other.  We hope that you have made connections that are valuable, and lasting in your life. We want to overcome the walls that we have put up to health and community. The health and wellness of just one person drastically impacts the health and wellness of us all. One healthy, happy person can brighten all of the interactions they have during the course of a day. We hope that we can create a centered community with the goal of healing, and joyously celebrating living together!  Lets support each other! Change for the better, overall, must come from us all.

Light!

This is the time of year when our systems become enlightened with the longer days, more motivation, warmer weather.  The sun is actually moving closer to the earth, charging our bodies with more and more light energy.  As humans we receive light through our skin from the sun, and that is beneficial because it processes vitamins in our body such as C and D, it can alleviate symptoms of depression, seasonal depressive disorder, and anxiety and nervousness. There is even evidence that suggest humans recover from surgery, and illness faster when exposed to natural light. Natural light also regulates sleep patterns, and possibly improves risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension.

Its obvious our systems benefit from this all powerful energy from the sun, the whole earth is built to circle around it! Our systems are adapted to receive this energy daily, but did you know our system is also built to EMIT LIGHT?!?!?  Human energy emits light, that when shining bright enough can be seen, even, from space! When the human body is healthy, with strong mental clarity we can even improve how bright our light shines. This light that we emit is lower on the UV scale than most human eyes can pick up, but we can feel it.  Have you heard human energy is described as a fire within? Think of how many songs or stories you know about shining humans, the light of love, how illumination is related to love, health and truth?

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!

Turn on your love light, let it shine on me!

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray!

This light that we humans have evolved to shine, is something use to communicate with each other, without our conscious awareness. Some people can feel the wellness, or truth of a person, without it being communicated verbally.  You know you get that feeling that you can trust a person you’ve hardly known?  This is an example of light communication. Truth is light in the body.  Illness is darkness in the body.  Where there is no communication, there is illness.

If you have been into the Docs office here lately you have probably had Dr John waving a cold laser on your body.  This technology is based on a new technology, quantum neurology.  Quantum Neurology is nervous system rehabilitation by improving communication in various parts of your body.

We are so excited to share this revolutionary and totally new healing method with you!  We are here to help your little light shine, and grow into a big light!

Recipe of the Week: Kale Chips

Kale Chips

Another favorite recipe everyone loves to munch is Mamas Kale Chips.  They are reminiscent of popcorn, with their crunch and saltiness.  Easy to make and fun to eat.

Kale is a cruciferous veggie, related to broccoli and cauliflower.  It’s an excellent source of beta carotene, Vitamin A, C, manganese, copper and calcium.  Like many leafy green veggies, the nutrient content is best absorbed when cooked, and eaten with some healthy fat.  This recipe delivers both healthy fat, and light cooking in an easy to bake and eat chip! Have fun with herbs and spices, these have been delicious with curry seasoning, and even cinnamon!

Ingredients

1 Bunch of Organic Kale

1 teaspoon Sea Salt

3 teaspoons Sesame Oil (or sunflower, olive, your favorite)

1 teaspoon Garlic powder or 2 cloves, chopped fine (optional)

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees

2. Wash and dry kale thoroughly.

3. Use scissors to cut small chip shapes from the leaves.  Remove the leaf from most of the stem.

4. Put kale in a big bowl and add oil.  Massage oil into each leaf while thinking happy thoughts.

5. Sprinkle salt, garlic, or other herbs on the leaves.  Massage this in, as well.

6. Place kale in a single layer on a cookie sheet, and bake until crispy, about 30 minutes. Check on the chips every 10 minutes, or so, and toss them to make sure none of them overcook. When done, the edges should be crispy, with a few softer parts among the middles.

7. While still hot, you may sprinkle more sea salt, if desired.  Let cool and enjoy!
